Lorne Seay

Executive Board

Brothers and Sisters,

I’ve been a proud member of IBEW Local 26 for 34 years, beginning my apprenticeship in 1990 and advancing through the ranks as a Residential Trainee, Apprentice, Journeyman, Foreman, and Shop Steward. I’ve had the honor of serving on the Examining Board and currently serve on our Executive Board.

Beyond my service within Local 26, I have proudly represented our union and the broader labor movement across Virginia. I began working as a Business Representative for Local 26 in 2004, and from 2009 to 2022, I served on the Executive Council of the Virginia AFL-CIO. In 2014, I was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Virginia AFL-CIO, where I worked to strengthen alliances across unions and advocate for pro-worker policies at the state level. I was also appointed by Governor Tim Kaine to the Virginia Apprenticeship Council and joined the Executive Council of the Virginia State Building and Construction Trades that same year.

In 2022, I made the decision not to seek re-election as Secretary-Treasurer of the Virginia AFL-CIO. With the continued growth of Local 26, I felt a renewed sense of responsibility to focus my full attention on supporting our expanding membership and ensuring our Executive Board remains a strong, effective advocate for all members.

Today, I continue to represent Local 26 as a delegate to the Northern Virginia Area Labor Federation and remain committed to the advancement of working people both inside and outside our union. I respectfully ask for your vote to continue serving on the Executive Board, where I will always prioritize the needs of our members and the future of our union.

Fraternally,
Lorne Seay
